Double girder cranes

industrial duty.

View parent category: EOT Cranes →

The Fluidline double girder EOT crane is the heavy-duty workhorse of the overhead crane range — chosen wherever the combination of high capacity, long span, demanding duty and continuous operation exceeds what a single girder design can deliver. Two parallel box-section girders span the bay, connected by end carriages at each end. A crab carrying the main hoist — and optionally an auxiliary hoist — traverses along the top of both girders, giving the maximum possible hook height for the available building headroom.

Capacity range runs from 5 MT to 40 MT as standard, with spans to 30 metres and duty classes A4 through A8 per IS 3177. The A8 rating is specified for foundry ladle cranes, steel plant service cranes, and any application where the crane runs hundreds of cycles per day without rest. Structural design follows IS 807 throughout, with full material traceability and weld inspection records kept for every unit.

Options available on double girder cranes from Fluidline include walkways along one or both girders for maintenance access, enclosed operator cabin with AC and ergonomic controls, auxiliary hoist at a sub-capacity rating, electro-magnetic lifting beam, and VVVF drives on all three motions. The complete electrical system — panel, festoon, limits, controls — is assembled and tested at Kundli before dispatch.

03 · Features

Built for the
hardest duty.

Feature 01

A4 to A8 Duty Rating

Structural members, gearboxes, brakes and electrical components are all rated and sized for the specified duty class — including A8 for foundry and steel plant service cranes that run continuously.

Feature 02

VVVF on All Motions

Variable frequency drives on long travel, cross travel and hoisting deliver smooth starts and stops, reduce structural fatigue, and give operators fine control over heavy loads.

Feature 03

Crab Platform & Walkways

Crab platform with handrails, and full-length walkway along one or both girders, are standard on double girder cranes — providing safe maintenance access to hoist, gearbox and electrical panel.

Feature 04

Auxiliary Hoist Option

A secondary hoist at 20–25% of main hoist capacity can be mounted on the same crab. Useful for positioning and fastening work that does not require the full crane capacity.

Feature 05

Operator Cabin

Enclosed, air-conditioned operator cabin with ergonomic seat, master controller and clear sightlines — specified for steel plants, foundries and any application where continuous operator comfort matters.

Feature 06

Full Load Test & Certification

Static load test at 125% and dynamic test at 110% of rated capacity. Test certificate, weld inspection records and material traceability documents issued with every crane.

06 · Why Fluidline

Why specify
Fluidline.

Reason 01

Heavy-duty Application Engineering

We engineer to the duty class and the application — not to a price point. A8 duty cranes for steel and foundry service are sized with the structural conservatism those environments demand.

Reason 02

Complete In-house Build

Girder fabrication, end carriage machining, gearbox assembly, electrical panel build and load testing — all within the Kundli facility. No subcontracted structural components.

Reason 03

Certified & Traceable

Every unit shipped with static and dynamic load test certificate, weld inspection records, material mill certificates and electrical test data — documents you need for statutory inspections.

07 · FAQ

Frequently asked
questions.

What is the maximum capacity of a Fluidline double girder EOT crane?
Fluidline double girder EOT cranes are available in capacities up to 40 MT as standard. For specialised applications in steel plants, foundries and heavy engineering, higher capacities can be engineered on request. The precise capacity rating is determined by the structural design for the specific span and duty class.
What spans are available for double girder EOT cranes?
Double girder EOT cranes are available with spans up to 30 metres. The span is determined by the bay width and rail centres of the customer's building. Spans beyond 30 metres are evaluated on a case-by-case basis against structural deflection limits per IS 807.
What duty classes do double girder cranes cover?
Double girder EOT cranes from Fluidline are rated to duty classes A4 through A8 per IS 3177. A8 is the highest duty class, appropriate for continuous operation such as foundry ladle cranes, steel plant service cranes and similar applications with hundreds of cycles per day.
Can a double girder crane have an auxiliary hoist?
Yes. Double girder EOT cranes can be equipped with both a main hoist and an auxiliary hoist mounted on the same crab structure. The auxiliary hoist typically operates at 20–25% of the main hoist capacity and is used for lighter lifts that do not require the full crane capacity.
What walkway and platform options are available?
Standard double girder cranes include a walkway along one or both girders for maintenance access to the crab, hoist and electrical panels. A crab platform with handrails is standard. Enclosed operator cabin mounted on the crab or end carriage is available for higher duty applications requiring full-shift operation.
What is the difference between a double girder and a single girder EOT crane?
A double girder crane uses two parallel box-section girders with the crab running on top of both. This allows greater hook height, heavier loads, longer spans and higher duty ratings than a single girder design. Double girder cranes are preferred for capacities above 10 MT, spans above 18 m, or duty classes A5 and above.
